Mini pools are becoming increasingly popular, and many homeowners are choosing this option. The available space for building a pool can be limited due to a small plot size (especially for houses in the city center) or for tax reasons (no taxation). Thanks to our range of SWIMEO counter-current swimming turbines, it is now possible to swim in a mini pool without doing laps.

Mini Pool : What is it?

A mini pool is a basin whose surface usually remains under 10 m². Aside from its more limited dimensions, there is nothing that distinguishes the mini pool from the classic pool. A mini pool may interest you in several cases:

  • if you live in an urban environment (then referred to as an urban mini pool);
  • if you live in a rural area but do not have a large garden;
  • if you wish to create an indoor swimming area…
Just like a classic pool, you will find mini pools in square, round, rectangular, hexagonal, in-ground, semi-in-ground, or above-ground shapes… They can also be the subject of a complete creation, adapted to the constraints of your land in terms of area, shape, and slope.

Not exceeding 10 m², the construction of a mini pool has the advantage of not requiring any administrative procedures. Beyond that, you will need to submit a preliminary declaration of work at the town hall: you will generally receive authorization within a month.

The advantages of a mini pool

The advantage of a mini pool is that it can be installed on all types of terrain, particularly in urban areas where plots are generally smaller.

By choosing a mini pool, you are building a basin with a limited budget. The reduced dimensions lower construction costs (materials and labor) and installation time. Additionally, a small basin consumes less electricity and has a smaller water volume, which also limits maintenance.

This leaves a budget available to equip your pool with a SWIMEO swimming current. We recommend the Model S for existing pools and the Model X for pools under construction or in planning.

These two models can be controlled using a remote control (provided with the turbine) or via the SWIMEO App that can be downloaded to your smartphone from the Apple Store or Play Store.

From an administrative perspective, a mini pool has the advantage of not needing a building permit and not being included in the calculation of the rental value, and thus not being subject to property tax and housing tax. However, it must be less than 10 m² and does not exempt you from a declaration of work at the town hall.

How to install a swimming current?

Swim in your mini pool

Requiring little space, the mini pool with counter-current swimming system allows you to practice all swimming styles: breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle… all in place, without having to swim back and forth.

The SWIMEO water current allows you to push the limits of your mini pool and turn it into a true adventure playground.

For maximum comfort, we recommend a minimum length of 4 meters and a minimum width of 2 meters. This will give you the freedom to practice all swimming styles without fear of touching the edges with your hands or feet.

The adjustable power allows you to vary your sessions according to your desires and will satisfy all family members.

At reduced speed, the turbine is suitable for children learning to swim or just playing in the current. At intermediate speeds, it will appeal to those looking to get fit, whether by walking in place (the turbine then offers resistance to advancement) or by being massaged by the flow. At maximum speed, amateur swimmers, athletes, or triathletes will have an effective means to train and refine their technique without having to leave their garden.
