The Counter-Current System: Model, Options and Power

The price of a counter-current system varies according to many criteria, such as the model, integrated options, and the power of the device. What costs should you expect? What should you keep in mind? Let’s clarify.

What are the costs for a counter-current system?

Different types of counter-current systems

Counter-current swimming adds real value to a swimming pool: it allows you to swim in crawl, breaststroke, or backstroke regardless of the size of the pool. It is suitable for both beginners and experienced swimmers, thanks to an adjustable flow power device.
The price of a counter-current system primarily varies depending on the type of device you plan to install.

Thus, there are:

– counter-current pumps and counter-current turbines, with turbines being significantly more powerful than often ineffective and disappointing pumps;
– built-in counter-current swimming equipment, integrated during the construction of the pool;
– so-called “outboard” counter-current systems, which can be installed on an already dug or mounted pool without requiring any masonry work.

Depending on the models and options chosen, you should expect a price range of €6,000 to €15,000 for a built-in counter-current system. However, keep in mind that such an investment will increase the value of your pool and, by extension, your home, in anticipation of a potential resale.

Multiple criteria for the price of a counter-current system

In addition to the type of device, several criteria influence the price of a counter-current system. These include:

– The power of the pump or turbine, with pumps having a maximum flow rate between 70 and 90 m3/h, while turbines exceed 250 m3/h. This is the criterion you should prioritize if you plan to engage in sports using your counter-current device, as the more powerful the turbine, the more effort will be required for swimming.

– The presence or absence of massage jets for hydrotherapy enthusiasts.

– The ability to adjust the orientation of the discharge nozzles (some models offer up to five positions).
– The options offered via the control panel.
– Various accessories (such as LED lighting).
– Performance in terms of noise during use and gliding sensations.
– The availability of a smartphone app to control the system and launch training programs… The SWIMEO App allows you, for example, to choose the speed, duration, and number of repetitions.
