Integrating a water current into your pool is an excellent way to tone your body and stay fit through various exercises.

With adjustable speed, the water movement creates resistance that promotes muscle strengthening. In fact, all muscles are engaged and must remain tight to face the current. Whether you want to build muscle, improve your endurance, or simply enjoy a refreshing alternative to your usual workouts, Swimeo counter-current swimming turbines offer a multitude of benefits.

Improve Your Cardio

By alternating speeds through the Swimeo app, you can create a high-intensity interval training program. Changing speeds at regular intervals and the intensity of the effort will increase your heart rate, improve the efficiency of your cardiovascular system, and burn more calories.

Example of an interval session

Set the Swimeo turbine to moderate to high intensity and sprint for 30 seconds. Then actively recover for 1 minute by swimming at speed 1. Restart the turbine at speed 3 or 4 and sprint for 45 seconds with 1 minute of active recovery, then for 1 minute with 1 to 2 minutes of recovery. Repeat this cycle 4 to 6 times depending on your level, ensuring you give yourself enough recovery time between each cycle. Finish with a gentle swim at speed 1 for 5 minutes to bring your heart rate down.

How to swim with Swimeo

Toning Up

Adding accessories to your swim session allows you to target muscles more deeply and vary strengthening exercises. It becomes easier to focus on a specific muscle group and concentrate on it for a certain period of time. Kickboard, pull buoy, noodle, hand paddles… there are many accessories that offer a variety of exercises to ensure you never get bored during your workouts.

Example of exercises for toning up

Kickboard: Hold a kickboard in front of you and face the turbine with your arms extended (adjust the speed according to your level). Perform leg kicks to engage your glutes and core muscles. Keep the movement for 3 minutes and take a 1-minute break by swimming gently to relax your muscles. Pull buoy: Place a pull buoy between your legs and face the turbine. This accessory allows you to focus on upper body muscles. Propel your arms forward as if you were swimming the front crawl.

Recovery

In addition to your daily workout, swimming in a water current is an excellent way to achieve effective active recovery. Swimming at a slower pace thanks to the first speed will relax your muscles and promote blood circulation. Additionally, exercising in water reduces stress on the joints, making it an ideal option for people with joint problems.

How to recover well?

Opt for a gentle swim such as breaststroke at speed 1 or 2 and continue as long as possible. The goal of this recovery swim is to keep a steady breath and avoid overheating, refocus on yourself, and take the time to breathe and swim calmly, relaxing your muscles.

Relaxing

Not in the mood to train today? You can still enjoy your Swimeo counter-current swimming turbine for a moment of relaxation.

Taking time for yourself

The lowest speed creates gentle ripples that invite meditation. Sit comfortably at the edge of the pool, close your eyes, and let yourself be lulled by the sound of moving water.
The gentle current created by this speed also offers the opportunity to do light stretches facing the turbine, or turn your back to it and let the current gently massage your upper body.
