SIREM is the story of an SME that has been writing its history since 1928. Its secret? It lies in its ability to move from one market to another by imagining new products while capitalizing on its expertise and skills. Buying a SIREM product means participating in the development of a French SME and the growth of the local economy.
Once upon a time…
The SIREM group was founded by Anatole Bermante, a Russian immigrant, in 1928. SIREM began its activity by designing and manufacturing TSF (wireless telegraphy) radios and gradually moved towards household appliances.
From the start, SIREM chose to manufacture its own electric motors, which were then used in a wide range of household appliances: portable washing machines, ironing machines (Repassex), and food processors (Combinex). At that time, SIREM was based in Villeurbanne, a suburb of Lyon.
In the 2000s, the company entered the pool market by developing specific tubular motors for pool covers. This was the birth of the COVEO range. Robust and waterproof, SIREM’s COVEO motors now equip more than 200,000 pools worldwide. Today, SIREM collaborates with a dense network of suppliers. 90% of the parts in a COVEO motor come from a French company.
Today, SIREM is located east of Lyon, in the commune of Saint-Maurice-de-Beynost in the Ain.

SWIMEO: A 100% French Innovation
Building on its experience in developing submerged motors for the pool industry, SIREM envisioned a product that could transform a pool into a swimming basin. This marked the birth of the Swimeo counter-current swimming turbine. This new invention began a new adventure for the SIREM group.

A product like SWIMEO took two years of development and testing with dozens of swimmers before arriving at the marketable version.
The optimization of fluid dynamics to achieve a laminar flow and the integration of a powerful 1100W motor were the main challenges tackled by SIREM’s research and development team.
SIREM also took care to develop an iconic and attractive turbine design by collaborating with a design agency. The aesthetics meet function with its side intake ports and hydrodynamic appendages that optimize flow circulation. The product was meticulously designed, from the integration of wheels for easy transport and placement in the pool without damaging the liner, to the development of a Smartphone App that allows swimmers to create their own training programs.
SIREM’s research and development center is constantly seeking to improve the swimming turbine. To do this, it regularly collaborates with swimmers, inviting them to its test pool. It was in this context that SIREM partnered with ultra-triathlete Lionel Jourdan.

100% French Manufacturing
SIREM is also a factory that employs nearly 60 production workers in various roles, including assembly, wiring, and motor winding. Today, 100% of the Swimeo turbines produced at the SIREM factory are tested to ensure proper motor operation before delivery to the customer.
